Healozone.
Introducing Healozone - Changing the face of dentistry
History
Ozone is a gas which occurs naturally. It has been used to provide purification in water and other processes for at least the past 50 years throughout the world. Its effectiveness as an oxidising agent is well documented. Ozone is produced naturally during thunderstorms and causes that clean fresh smell after lightening. It can be produced in a controlled manner using electric corona discharge units. Ozone is extremely effective at reducing the amount of bacteria and viruses present in air and water. It kills all bacteria and viruses almost instantaneously and this has been widely used in medicine. No resistant strains of bacteria exist and ozone is effective against MRSA and C.Difficile. Now for the first time a safe practical dental application has been developed
Painless treatment of tooth decay
In the past it has been necessary to give an injection and amputate (drill) the decayed tooth leaving a hole that has to be filled. Over time the filling may leak and need replacing with another larger filling which itself may eventually need replacing. The cycle continues with ever larger and more expensive fillings and crowns. It has been calculated that the lifetime cost of a first filling in a tooth can be in excess of £1000.
By using the ozone we can not only destroy any bacteria but also enable the damaged tooth to heal. The healed portion of the tooth is very resistant to further decay.
The ozone application is painless and can take as little as 60 seconds.
Healozone applications
Deciduous or milk teeth; if the decay is caught at an early stage a simple 60 second application of ozone, followed by the use of special sealants can arrest decay.
Root decay; this type of decay can rapidly lead to tooth loss, early application of Healozone heals the decay without the need for a filling. If a deep hole has formed then a simple filling may also be needed, though this will be smaller than had Healozone not been used.
Biting surface decay; the use of a digital probe shows up this decay at a very early stage. The decay can then be healed and the tooth sealed to prevent further decay.
Deep decay; if the decay is already close to the nerve we can use ozone to disinfect the deepest decay and heal it rather than risk drilling in this critical area.
