Dental Implants

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots which are either used to fix teeth in place or to make dentures tight. They are very successful, over 95% last over 15 years. Having the implants fitted is much easier than people expect, there may be some swelling but normally any discomfort is easily managed with painkillers.

An important breakthrough in implant treatment now allows us to replace your failing teeth with new fixed teeth in just one day.

We use implants to fill gaps where teeth are missing. This may be to replace one or several teeth but even if all the teeth in a jaw are missing or failing we can often still use implants to give you fixed teeth in just one day.

Implants can be used to replace dentures with fixed teeth without having to drill the adjacent teeth.

As a more economical solution we can use implants to anchor a denture. The denture still has to be removed for cleaning and overnight for sleeping but it won't fall out when you chew, smile or laugh. This works better for lower dentures.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are an aesthetic dental solution for damaged teeth. Porcelain crowns can be made entirely of porcelain or porcelain in combination with a metal such as silver or gold. We generally use all-porcelain crowns to fix damaged front teeth, as these crowns look and reflect light most like natural teeth. Combination porcelain-metal crowns are stronger than all-porcelain crowns and look nearly as good as the all-porcelain crowns. These are generally used to replace damaged back teeth.

Inlays and Onlays

These are a cross between fillings and crowns. They can be made of porcelain or gold. Porcelain fillings provide beautiful aesthetics whilst gold onlays can last for decades.

Bridgework

We use bridgework to hang teeth into gaps between healthy teeth. Bridges last on average for 10-12 years and can look very natural. They work best when the nearby teeth are healthy but would be stronger or better looking if they were crowned (capped).

Full Mouth Rejuvenation

Full mouth rejuvenation is an opportunity to start again after your mouth has been damaged by cavities, gum disease, accidents, bite problems or is just worn out.

Full mouth rejuvenation, also called full mouth rehabilitation or reconstruction, corrects imbalances in the bite position and restores the harmony of the biting muscles. It restores your ability to chew and enhances your smile and is suitable for people with short, worn teeth or those that are chipped, broken or missing throughout the mouth.

Veneers

Veneers are thin facings placed over the front of teeth to make them stronger, brighter or straighter. They can look very natural and beautiful. They work best when you want to achieve a different shape for your teeth or make them straighter.

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening is a great way to brighten teeth without damaging them. It's so easy you can do it in your sleep. We will make you some ultra thin custom fitted trays to hold special gel on your teeth. You can then wear the trays whilst you sleep.

Tooth whitening won't alter the colour of fillings or old crowns but it can make your teeth the colour they were when you were younger. Whitening works best when you are happy with the shape of your teeth but you want them to look brighter.

White Fillings

We try and make all our work look good even simple fillings. By layering different tooth coloured shades we can achieve very natural fillings that are invisible when you smile. This technique can be used for both front and back teeth.

Digital Radiographs

Our digital radiograph systems reduce the x-ray dose by up to 80% but still provide crystal clear images to enable treatment.  We can even use the radiographs to check your risk of osteoporosis.

Dentures

Whilst we believe that full dentures are better supported by implants or, best of all, replaced by fixed bridgework, sometimes they are the only option available. We use the best looking teeth on the market and the most accurate acrylics to provide the best dentures we can.

Part dentures can provide an economic solution if there are lots of teeth missing.

Prevention

We will help you to understand what caused the problems with your teeth and how to stop it happening again. We can help by analysing your diet and your brushing techniques. We will make specific recommendations on the best home care. All treatments will be designed to help protect your teeth and keep them strong and healthy.

Healozone

Healozone uses a painless gas to reverse dental decay and make teeth stronger. It reduces the amount of drilling needed and sometimes avoids the need for drilling altogether.

Mouth Cancer Screening

As part of your detailed examination or regular care visit we will screen your mouth for mouth cancer. We will examine your lips, cheeks and tongue under bright light and magnification and then again with the help of Velscope. In the UK, over 4500 new cases of mouth cancer are diagnosed annually. Less than 50% of cases will survive 5 years. But early treatment as a result of detection can improve chances of patient survival from 50% to nearly 90%.
